Life sciences recruitment and search consultancy RBW is supporting the International Longevity Centre (ILC) to launch a new report about the barriers to older people’s participation in clinical trials.

The report seeks to understand more about what prevents older people’s participation in clinical trials and the possible implications for the efficacy of trials and equity of healthcare outcomes.

A webinar with a panel of experts is being held on 30th March to mark the launch of the new report.

The issue of age discrimination in clinical trials has remained on the agenda of governments and regulators for many years, but it’s a tough nut to crack. We have seen clinical trials become more inclusive in recent decades. However, the representation of older patients still lags, even when testing medications that will predominantly be prescribed to older patients. About one-third of medications and medical interventions in trial phases exclude people based on their age. Following a multi-stakeholder roundtable discussion, as part of the RBW IMPACT program, a webinar will be held to mark the launch of a new report. This new ILC report will explain the findings from the roundtable and set out some recommendations for stakeholders at all stages of the trial process to improve age diversity.
