WISB and BIA WIB networking breakfast: Building organisational and global resilience
Join us for a special IBIOIC fringe event! WISB and WIB are teaming up to provide a fantastic networking opportunity around the IBIOIC conference. In a world where change is a constant and we face huge challenges around sustainability and security, we’ll be discussing how to build resilient biotech organisations and how biotech can create a more resilient and sustainable world.
This event is free to attend and open to both conference attendees and non-attendees.
Alison Arnold
Dr. Alison Arnold Ph.D. joined Ingenza in 2003 and is Head of Fermentation and Microbiology. She has over 20 years’ experience working in the biotechnology industry. In 2018, Alison had success at the Scottish Women’s Awards where she was honored for her Services to Science and Technology. Alison leads a team of fermentation scientists playing an integral role in a variety of cutting-edge Industrial Biotechnology programmes at Ingenza ranging from pharma, biofuels and renewable materials. Alison has extensive experience in managing worldwide technology transfer of multiple bio-manufacturing processes, scaling up to 10 – 2,500 m3 in a wide range of microbial hosts and mammalian cell lines. Alison is a passionate advocate of Women in STEM and she also delivers lectures to Scotland’s Industrial Biotechnology Innovation Centre’s MSc student cohort. Alison has over 15 published peer reviewed scientific articles.
Sarah Goulding
Sarah Goulding is one of the Challenge Directors within UKRI for the Medicines Manufacturing challenge. Sarah was previously Head of Relationship Management and a specialist in medicines manufacturing at the Knowledge Transfer Network (KTN) with 15 years of experience working with industry, academia and policy makers in cell and gene therapies, biologics and medicines manufacturing. Throughout her career to date, she has driven the formation of initiatives to enable collaboration and commercialisation that work across business, academia and policy makers in government and associated bodies such as bioProcessUK, the BioIndustry Association’s Cell and Gene Therapy Advisory Committee and the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership. Sarah has also been Acting Director at the BioIndustry Association Scotland, and has a PhD in developmental biology.
Dana Heldt
Dana is the Knowledge Transfer Manager for Synthetic Biology at Innovate UK KTN working with stakeholders in Synthetic Biology, Engineering Biology and also Industrial Biotechnology. Innovate UK KTN is part of the Innovate UK family and connects innovators with new partners and supports them to translate their ideas into real world products and services. Prior to joining IUK KTN, she worked at different start-up companies engineering microbes to produce various chemicals and molecules. Dana is passionate about the opportunities Engineering Biology and Industrial Biotechnology offer and works with companies of all sizes as well as innovators who are keen to develop and apply bio-based technologies to solve the challenges of the 21st century.
Elizabeth Pirrie
As CEO of AccelerateHER and COO of Investing Women Scotland, Elizabeth moves the dial to create more opportunities for female founders. AccelerateHER includes a program of events, the AccelerateHER awards, and the support and encouragement of female founders to scale their business, accelerating growth for female founders to scale companies, access investment & be visible to inspire others. Elizabeth is working to change the face of angel investment with Scotland’s first all-female angel investment group.
