BPE joined line up for 16th annual bioProcessUK conference

As a company with extensive practical experience in the design, construction, qualification and operation of biologics facilities, BPE places itself at the forefront of innovation in the industry. However, the company’s ethos is all about sharing that knowledge and experience with other industry leaders.

BIA is accepted as the UK’s premier platform to do that. Now in its 16th year, the Conference attracts industry leaders and continues to build on its ongoing success. Last year, there were more than 285 delegates from 160 leading organisations, gathering to hear about bioprocess intensification and how it could drive down the cost of medicine.

This year, the focus was on bioprocessing in the digital age, and, for BPE, proved to be the ideal opportunity for us to discuss our evolving work into digital design platforms for the upstream (cell culture, microbial, yeast and mycelial systems) and downstream processing and purification operations. We design both manual and highly automated plants to cGMP regulations, focusing on the concept/front-end studies, detailed design and process safety of processes and facilities. Front-end studies often involve scale-up from pilot to commercial operations and we can provide process simulation, correct technology selections, evaluation of capital investment costs, technical risk and process economic assessments.

Scaling up a process or product is a complex and risky task, so we implement an effective scale-up strategy and framework. We then recommend safety, performance and sustainability optimisation at each stage of the scale-up process, whilst also keeping costs as low as possible. Our process simulation techniques and technology selections incorporate standard designs and digitalisation requirements.

Digitalisation is becoming an increasingly important factor in biologics, so over the two days at bioProcessUK, it was a great opportunity for us to discuss our work and discuss how we build long-term customer relationships and collaborative partnerships throughout the UK and across Europe.

We exhibited with our partners at Boulting Environmental Services (BES), a partnership which provides full turnkey solutions for the biologics, life sciences, research and healthcare sectors in the UK and internationally.
