Johnson & Johnson Innovation in London are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel to join their team
The role will support Johnson & Johnson Innovation (JJI) generally and specifically will sit with and advise the London Innovation Center team in a wide variety of external innovation initiatives in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region originating from the London Innovation Center.
You will be a member of the Johnson & Johnson Innovation Legal Team and in addition to providing support for London Innovation Center, the successful applicant may be asked to work from time to time on external collaborations and projects initiated by Johnson & Johnson Innovation groups globally. The JJI groups that may require legal support from time to time include its JLABS incubator group, JJDC corporate venture capital group, world without disease accelerator and enterprise external research and development such as the Lung Cancer Initiative.
Qualified applicants are expected to be excellent lawyers with outstanding people skills, including the ability to negotiate with third parties and draft various collaboration and partnership agreements that are on strategy for the consumer, medical device and pharmaceutical businesses of Johnson & Johnson. Primary responsibilities include facilitating the drafting of equity investments, sponsored research, early stage product/patent licensing, and option agreements; managing IP due diligence, including freedom-to-operate and exclusivity reviews, the primary responsibility for which will reside within the Law Department’s functional specialist groups; and managing relationships with external firms, partners and/or outside counsel. The exact nature of the roles to be played by the JJI Lawyer/Attorney in conjunction with these activities will depend to a large extent on the individual’s qualifications and experience, and the circumstances of the particular matter. As an on-site Lawyer /Attorney, this individual will also be expected to work closely with the business leader, colleagues and embedded J&J R&D leaders in the LIC and participate in meetings and negotiations.
