Impact of the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community

For the third year running, the Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) hosted a showcasing event during national apprenticeship week. The ATAC team met with current and future employers, training providers and apprentices in Manchester, Stevenage and Oxford, hosting workshops to convey the benefits of advanced therapies apprenticeship programmes. The ATAC programme has already had a tremendous impact, having grown significantly in the number of participating companies and apprentices enrolled in programmes in just over one year.

Advanced therapies have the potential to address significant and growing unmet healthcare needs. They offer the promise of treating and altering the course of diseases which cannot be addressed adequately by existing pharmaceuticals. The UK is at the leading edge of this disruptive industry and there is an opportunity to build a large-scale industry delivering health and wealth.

The Advanced Therapies Apprenticeship Community (ATAC) has been established in partnership with the Medicines Manufacturing Industry Partnership  to develop the first apprenticeship programme designed specifically to train and upskill individuals to develop, manufacture and deliver these innovative therapies at scale.

This programme is supported by the BIA's Manufacturing Advisory Comittee (MAC) and is led by the Cell and Gene Therapy Catapult. Full details can be found on the ATAC website
