Future proofing the UK through an aligned Technology and Innovation roadmap

The primary purpose of this road map is to set out recommendations on how to protect and grow
the respected UK ‘Pharmaceutical Brand’ with a specific focus on Technology and Innovation (T&I).
Historically, the UK has excelled at early innovation in medicines platform research and development,
but has lost out to other countries for the final manufacture of these high value products. A plan of
action is described via the road map to define how we can build on existing medicines platforms and
through strategic technology investment to prepare the UK for the very latest step change opportunities
in Advanced Therapies and Complex Medicines and their associated manufacturing requirements.
