About the aligned pathway and integrated scientific advice service
From 1 April 2026, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) are launching an aligned pathway to bring medicines to NHS patients 3 to 6 months sooner. This will be achieved by bringing NICE decisions forward to align with MHRA, resulting in parallel decisions on licensing and value. An improved integrated scientific advice service will launch alongside the pathway, helping companies adhere to aligned pathway timings by clarifying regulatory and HTA evidence requirements early in the development process, helping to avoid unforeseen delays.
