The Modular Training for the Bioprocess Industries (MBI) programme pioneered by UCL Biochemical Engineering is a series of intensive short modules designed for professionals in the bioprocessing industry. The MBI Programme has a long history of equipping the bioprocessing industry's workforce with up-to-date skills and knowledge of process options in order to rapidly develop validatable, efficient and robust processes.

In today’s rapidly advancing biotech sector, the transition from lab-scale to pilot-scale bioprocessing is a pivotal step in product and process development – but one that remains largely out of reach for hands-on learning. With larger bioreactor systems typically reserved for commercial production, access is limited, creating a significant skills gap for early-career scientists and industry professionals eager to scale their expertise – until now.

This one-day, classroom-based training course covers the fundamental principles of biology which underpin today’s biotherapeutics, with a particular emphasis on advanced therapies including cell therapies and gene therapies. With the basics covered we explore the scope of advanced therapies and their disease targets.
