Professor Tom Brown, Emeritus Professor of Nucleic Acid Chemistry at the University of Oxford, will explore recent developments in nucleic acid chemistry and their growing range of applications in biology and medicine.

Professor Brown is an internationally recognised expert in nucleic acid chemistry and its applications. His research has contributed to the development of new technologies for genetic analysis, diagnostics and related areas of biotechnology. He is the co-inventor of several genetic analysis technologies and co-founder of Oswel, Primer Design and ATDBio.

With more than 450 publications and patents, Professor Brown has received numerous prestigious awards, including several from the Royal Society of Chemistry. He was named *Chemistry World* Entrepreneur of the Year in 2014 and BBSRC Innovator of the Year in 2016. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and has held senior leadership positions within the Royal Society of Chemistry, including President of its Chemistry-Biology Interface Division.
