The Babraham Institute is a charity which is world renowned for its research in life sciences to enhance lives and improve wellbeing.
We have an exciting opportunity for a Translation Officer to support the translational development of discoveries arising from our world-leading research into the biology of ageing. This is a key role in the Babraham Institute’s Knowledge Exchange and Commercialisation team, working closely with researchers, industry partners, investors, public sector organisations and other stakeholders to maximise the impact of Babraham Institute research.
The Translation Officer will support a broad range of the Institute's translational and commercialisation activities. Working closely with the Commercialisation Manager, the postholder will contribute to the assessment and development of new discoveries, intellectual property management, licensing opportunities, translational funding applications, company formation and partnership development. They will also work alongside the Knowledge Exchange Manager to deliver knowledge exchange activities that strengthen engagement and collaboration between the Institute and external partners.
This role requires a candidate with a strong scientific background, excellent communication skills, and a strong interest in developing expertise in technology transfer.
The successful candidate will have scientific expertise relevant to the Babraham Institute's research portfolio and the ability to identify and evaluate translational opportunities arising from discovery science. They will be enthusiastic about the commercialisation of bioscience research, motivated to develop innovative technologies towards real-world application, and interested in the legal and business aspects of research translation, including intellectual property, contracts and partnership agreements. Experience of intellectual property management, technology transfer or other translational activities would be highly desirable.
