Mironid's programmes are driven by proprietary insights into the structural and subcellular compartmentalisation of the key signalling enzyme phosphodiesterase 4 (PDE4) which are continuing to emerge from the labs of our scientific founder and renowned world expert in PDEs, Prof Miles Houslay. These have enabled differentiated strategies to be utilised which have generated compounds capable of regulating the activity of specific PDE4 isoforms to achieve the desired therapeutic benefit: 1) LoAc® - up regulation of long PDE4 isoform activity to address diseases associated with abnormally elevated cAMP levels, leading to a first-in-class opportunity to treat Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease (ADPKD) 2) Sholo® - highly-specific, short isoform-selective PDE4 inhibitors to provide improved efficacy and better safety/tolerability profiles c.f. current pan-PDE4 compounds in the treatment of multiple chronic inflammatory diseases.
