Coulter Partners places veteran industrial biotech leader as Melt&Marble’s first CTO
London, June 5th 2025 – Coulter Partners, the global expert building leadership teams for Health, Science and Technology innovation businesses, successfully completed a search assignment for Melt&Marble and is pleased to announce the placement of Tue Hodal as its first Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
Melt&Marble is a manufacturer of precision-fermented fats; the company has developed a proprietary technology designed to engineer yeast metabolism to produce tailored fats that meet specific functional and compositional requirements across various applications, including food and personal care products. Melt&Marble’s solutions address the pressing need for sustainable alternatives to traditional animal-based fats, which are often associated with significant environmental impacts.
Tue Hodal brings over 25 years of extensive experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical sectors, having held senior roles at prominent firms including Chr. Hansen, Novo Nordisk and Lundbeck. Most recently, Hodal served as CTO at Bacthera, a company specializing in bacterial biotherapeutics. In his new role at Melt&Marble, Hodal will focus on optimizing bioprocesses and downstream operations to facilitate large-scale, economically sustainable production of precision-fermented fats.
“Melt&Marble has a proven technology that will be key to creating the next generation of alternative food and cosmetics products,” said new CTO Tue Hodal:
Reducing the carbon footprint of our food systems is an urgent priority and innovative solutions like Melt&Marble’s will be at the center of that effort. The scalability of the technology has already been demonstrated and I look forward to working with the team to expand our operations.
“Tue will play a central role in the future success of Melt&Marble,” said Anastasia Krivoruchko, co-founder and CEO of Melt&Marble. “We knew we needed a CTO with significant technical and operational expertise, someone who understands the unique challenges of scaling a startup to full commercial production. With experience spanning both large corporations and high-growth startups, Tue brings exactly the skill set we need.”
Commenting on the collaboration with Coulter Partners, Anastasia Krivoruchko added:
Finding the right leadership is crucial for companies like ours in the precision fermentation sector. Coulter Partners supported us in this search with useful sector insights and access to relevant networks in the Nordics and Europe.
Melt&Marble recently secured €2.76m in EU grants and announced a partnership with Finnish food and dairy giant Valio to explore development of next-generation plant-based products, focused on delivering sustainable alternatives to consumers in the future.
