Salvivo Secures Innovate UK Funding for Breakthrough Saliva Sampling Device Project with National Physical Laboratory (NPL)
Salvivo has been awarded an IUK A4i award to work with the National Physical Laboratory. The six-month project establishes metrology protocols for dried saliva diagnostics, enabling NHS adoption and pharmaceutical partnerships. Project begins April 2026.
The project seeks to carry out analysis of Salvivo saliva collection devices to study metabolite and biomarker recovery towards future application in early detection of diseases such as diabetes, inflammatory conditions and cancer.
We're thrilled to share that we’ve secured Innovate UK A4i funding to pursue advanced measurement of our FishburneTabs™ saliva collection and biomarker analysis platform with the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) (another BIA member).
- World-first: metrology in Mass Spec and Raman imaging for dried saliva analytics
- Partnering for access to NPL’s world-leading measurement science team and facilities.
- Paper-based collection - potential to cut NHS plastic waste by 5,000–10,000 tonnes
- Key step toward accessing £1B+ market in patient-friendly monitoring
This project is phase 1 of our product development roadmap transforming our simple oral-hydration device FishburneTabs®OH, into a multi-application health monitoring platform.
