EPSRC is funding a NetworkPlus to develop a UK digital twinning research community.

The aim is to establish a diverse and thriving research community in digital twinning. To achieve this, the Network+ will be expected to:

  • create networking opportunities with stakeholders in academia, industry and government across the UK and internationally
  • assess and determine what the UK needs in terms of research, research infrastructure and skills to develop a national capability in digital twinning
  • undertake thought leadership in areas of ethics and human interaction, environmental sustainability, and security and resilience of digital twinning through publication of white papers
  • develop and run open opportunities for small digital twinning research projects

Individuals who are employed by an eligible higher education or research institution may apply for £3million to run a NetworkPlus for 5 years. Individuals from industry can be on the applicant team in another capacity e.g. as a collaborator, project partner or advisory board member.

EPSRC are encouraging applicant teams from a broad range of disciplines including those who may not normally engage with or be familiar with digital twinning but have expertise in an area that is relevant to digital twinning.

If you are interested in getting involved, EPSRC have launched a collaboration finder tool alongside the call so that people can register their interest – they are hoping this tool will help users to identify and form new teams, collaborations and partnerships.
