BIA welcomes new NIHR framework for restarting research activities in the UK

Commenting on the NIHR 'Framework for restart' released today, Steve Bates OBE, Chief Executive of the BIA said

"The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) published today a ‘Framework for restart’, a guidance document to help sponsors planning to restart trials or to initiate new clinical trials which have been paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as to support local decision-making.

"The BIA would like to acknowledge the collaborative approach by the DHSC and the NIHR Coordinating Centres in the development of the Restart Framework to restore a fully active portfolio of NIHR research to improve the health and wealth of the nation, given the impact that paused studies have had for patient participants, BIA member companies and the life sciences sector."
