The Intellectual Property Advisory Committee (IPAC) helps the BIA shape the environment for IP ownership and protection.

The committee includes technical experts and IP professionals from a range of member companies and experienced lawyers from the top private practice IP member firms.

IPAC Priorities

1. Connect

Our seven sub-committees, across EU policy, UK policy & case law, US case law, Nagoya & Access and Benefits Sharing (ABS), Data & AI, SPC and Trade, will continue to provide IPAC members with more opportunities to be actively involved, increase their understanding of specific topics, and connect with one another.

We will continue to invite guest speakers and connect to other advisory committees to ensure we are servicing the full BIA membership.

We will establish bilaterals with the IPO and the BIO and other relevant organisations.

2. Inform/Support
Our sub-committees will focus on key IP issues and improve our ability to respond to calls for input from the wider BIA.
3. Expert Advice
We will provide advice to BIA members on relevant IP developments to help them to take appropriate measures in response, and complement the BIA’s work to expand into digital health and data by providing advice in these areas.

IP Policy Newsletter

The BIA also runs an IP policy newsletter to allow the broader membership to stay informed about IPAC's activities. If you would like to receive it, please email Linda Bedenik.
